Anyone can do this
Raise more. Save more.
Take steps. Save more dogs™
You don't have to walk to raise money for the dogs. Start a Facebook fundraiser and let the people who follow your dog chip in. Here's everything you need to ask them, including what their money actually does.
Why this work costs what it costs
One shelter dog can cost $1,000 to $10,000
That's what caring for a single shelter dog at a neighborhood vet can run. Now imagine that for every dog in Ohio.
Gigi's provides veterinary and behavior care to those dogs, and helps them find adopters across the state. We transport them out of rural shelters, treat them, support their behavior needs, and find them homes.
Off the van. Through treatment. Home.
Where the money goes
Your gift doesn't build the system. It runs it.
Because of our founding donors' gift, 100% of donations goes directly to saving more dogs. The facilities, the equipment, the systems that make this possible were already paid for.
That's why a dollar raised through your fundraiser is a dollar of care. Not overhead, not a building, not a line item. Care.
Stats that help you tell our story
Pick one. Make it yours.
You don't need all of these. Choose the one that fits your dog and put it in your fundraiser. One number people remember beats six they skim.
1,400+ dogs a year
Rescued from rural Ohio communities where there's no shelter capacity and no low-cost vet.
4,600+ dogs
Receiving veterinary care, behavior support, and a path to adoption.
509 dogs, 90% save rate
Treated at Gigi's Parvovirus Treatment Center. Parvo kills puppies. It doesn't have to.
9,800+ free vaccines
Given to dogs in partner shelters before disease could reach them.
2,800+ surgical cases
Adoption-readiness and surgical care through shelter and rescue partnerships.
20,000+ dogs in seven years
The whole thing, since the beginning. Good for a milestone post.
What a gift does

Any amount
A one-time gift to your fundraiser goes to the same care. There's no minimum and no wrong number.
Step by step
Setting it up, screen by screen
About two minutes start to finish. On a computer, the button below picks Gigi's for you. On a phone it opens the Facebook app, and step 1 shows you what to tap.
On a phone: find Gigi's
If the button dropped you into the Facebook app, tap the menu (three lines), find Fundraisers, tap Raise money, choose Charity or Nonprofit, and search Gigi's. Pick the one with our logo, since there are other groups with similar names. On a computer, Gigi's is already selected and you can skip this.
Set your goal and end date
Pick a number you'd feel good hitting. $250 and $500 are both common and both achievable, and you can change it later. Set the end date to October 24 so it wraps up with the walk. A deadline is most of why fundraisers work.
Name it after your dog
"Walkin' for Gigi's with Riley" beats "Gigi's Fundraiser" every time, because it tells people whose ask this is before they read a word of it.
Delete the pre-filled story
Facebook writes a generic description about Gigi's. Clear it out and write your own, or use ours. This is the single highest-value thing you'll change.
Need the words? We wrote three versions you can copy and paste, further down this page.
Add your dog's photo and publish
Use a photo of your dog as the cover image, not the Gigi's logo. It's what people see in their feed, and it's the reason they stop scrolling. Then publish it.
From here Facebook takes over
It'll walk you through inviting friends, sharing to your feed, and posting updates as donations come in. Follow those prompts, and do these two things: donate $10 or $25 to your own fundraiser before you share it, because an empty fundraiser stays empty. And share it three times, not once: now, about a week in, and the day before the walk.
Short on time?
If setting up a fundraiser isn't for you, a direct donation does the same work. One tap, no setup.

If you adopted from Gigi's
On October 24 I'm walking at Columbus Commons with [DOG'S NAME] for Gigi's, the organization that got [him/her] healthy enough to come home with me. Caring for one shelter dog at a vet can cost $1,000 to $10,000, and Gigi's absorbs that so dogs like [DOG'S NAME] can be adopted. Every dollar here goes straight to that care. If you've ever liked a photo of [DOG'S NAME], this is the thing to do about it.
If you want the numbers to do the work
I'm raising money for Gigi's, who care for shelter dogs across Ohio. Here's what your money does there: $21 brings 12 dogs to safety through transport. $100 saves a puppy fighting for its life in their parvovirus treatment center, where the save rate is 90%. Because of Gigi's founding donors, 100% of what you give goes directly to the dogs. Any amount helps.
If you're keeping it short
Raising money for Gigi's and shelter dogs across Ohio. 100% of what you give goes to their care. Sharing this helps as much as giving.
Good to know
The practical bits
You don't collect anything
Facebook handles the donations and sends them to Gigi's. You never touch the money.
There's no minimum
Fundraising is optional and there's no target you have to hit. Whatever you raise goes straight to the dogs.
Your donors are thanked
Facebook sends each donor a receipt. If they choose to share their contact info with us, we'll thank them ourselves.
